Rumors persist of unique, distinguished item sets that once belonged to great champions and heroes from the past. These sets are said to bestow additional magic abilities once all its pieces have been found and equipped. Set items are recognizable by their green names. Once identified, each set item names the other pieces required to complete the set.

Items in Green are Set Items.

Set Items cannot be Ethereal.

If you have a Set Item that doesn't match the stats in this guide, it is likely from the 1.09 patch or earlier. To get the stats listed in this guide your Set Item must have dropped in patch 1.10 or later.

Normal Set Items: Specific Item Partial Set Bonuses

Some Set Items will receive Magic Bonuses (listed in green on that item) for each additional item of the same Set you equip. The Set Pages will list these bonuses in green on the items with Partial Set Bonuses.

Example:

+150 Defense (2 Set Items)
+50% Fire Resist (3 Set Items)

This indicates that you will receive +150 Defense if you have 2 or more items of the Set. To gain the bonus of +50% Fire Resist you will need 3 or more items of that Set.

Not all Normal Set Items receive Specific Item Partial Set Bonuses. Sigon's Guard, for example, does not get additional bonuses.

A few Normal Set Items always receive a special Magic Bonus on them. These bonuses will appear in violet (same color as normal Magic Prefixes and Suffixes) such as on Civerb's Cudgel.

You cannot use more than one of the same Set Items in a set to enable the Partial Bonuses. If the Partial Bonus requires two items of the Angelic Raiment Set, you cannot for example wear two Angelic Halo Rings to enable the Partial Bonus.

Note: Only Set Items that have dropped after Diablo II Patch 1.08 and in Diablo II: Lord of Destruction will have Specific Item Partial Set Bonuses. These include Set Items converted from Classic Diablo II found prior to Diablo II Patch 1.08. These "old" Set Items can be identified by their higher (double) Durability than the currently listed Set Items. Additional Lord of Destruction Sets were given new Specific Item Partial Set Bonuses in the 1.10 patch. If your item does not have these bonuses, it's likely that it was created prior to the 1.10 patch. You will need to get a 1.10 version of the set item to get the new Specific Item Partial Set Bonus.

All Sets: Partial Set Bonuses

You will receive Partial Set Bonuses for wearing two or more pieces of a Set. These will be listed in gold. Once you have completed the Set you will receive the Complete Set Bonus.

You cannot use more than one of the same Set Items in a set to enable the Partial Bonuses requiring more than one of the Set Items. If the Partial Bonus requires two items of the Angelic Raiment Set, you cannot for example wear two Angelic Halo Rings to enable the Partial Bonus.

All Sets: Complete Set Bonuses

Once you have completed a Set you will receive the Complete Set Bonus which will include the Partial Set Bonuses.

To receive the Magical Bonuses on Sets they must be equipped. You do not receive the Magical Bonuses when the Set Items are in your Inventory, Horadric Cube, Stash or in a non-active Weapon Slot.

You will not receive Partial or Complete Set Bonuses when the items are in your Inventory, Horadric Cube, Stash or Weapon Tabs that are not active.

You can wear multiple Sets and receive the Partial and even Complete Set Bonuses for each Set you're able to wear.

Set items sometimes have special magical abilities not found on regular Magic and Rare Items. Take a look.

Exceptional and Elite Sets sometimes contain Class-specific items and are specifically designed for certain classes. Other classes can still wear pieces of this set that are not Class-specific and can receive Partial Set Bonuses.

Set Items can be Socketed using the first quest reward in Act V or a special Horadric Cube Formula. You can place Gems, Jewels or Runes in Set Items to make them even more valuable. Set Items can only have one socket, with a few exceptions. You cannot complete a Rune Word using a Set Item.

Note: The Defense of the Set Armor, and the damage listed for Set Weapons is a sample of what you will find and may not be exactly the same as a Set Item found in the field. Set Item's Defense might be slightly higher than the maximum Defense shown in this guide. Set items are based on Normal, Exceptional or Elite Items so they will follow the same range of Defense and damage numbers.

Items with a fixed amount of +X% Enhanced Defense will always spawn at their maximum defense values.
